'tis that time again folks! 
I've got my holiday cards and pen ready for greetings and fun stamps so please be a dear and give me your address early this year so your christmas card can be in your mail...

I started on a road I felt so sure about with people I would bet my pulse on. My tank inside was full in hopes and dreams but it was empty on ambition. I didn't really want to work on things, I just expected the success as much, every time the pit grew deeper & deeper, it seems like it would be a sort of ying & yang effect. You can't have the bad without the goods and my expectations were bigger when the worse felt worse. My common sense was well hidden behind my sanguine expectations.

Best Friends that didn't give a damn about me, Love that just wasn't that at all, days that I could have lived without. 

I don't know why I ever felt so optimistic at all. The things that were done then have taken so long to tread through now. The decisions, the outcomes, the healing, the repairing---- the reconstruction. 

Why looking back everything seems so strange to me. I'm a different person, I don't know why I was so easily influenced. 

this road now seems so different than it was back then. I look back every once and a while and things seem a little clearer, I get the light to shed itself on some places and I can't believe how long it's been and how much it feels like just yesterday.....

EXT. NIGHT 11:30 PM. In a Suburban street with a dingy black bar on the end of the corner.

Every store is closed a group of kids in their early twenties are standing outside a bar they just finished a gig in. All of their equipment in on the sidewalk. It’s early december so the weather is well below two digit degrees. There are a few groupies in short skirts and punk leather jackets standing with the band. There’s an overly excited short punk kid pacing around. The band is waiting for a van to pick them up and take them home. 

LACY

(Jumping up & down to take away the numb from the cold in her toes)

It’s cold man

SANCHEZ

  YO!

    (He ignores her comment, everyone else gathers around him)

When the van gets here lets

try to load this shit in quick

and get the fuck outta here I’m freezing

my mother fucking balls off

Punk Kid

  (very loudly)

We need some fucking LIQOUR to warm up!

LUCAS

Alright bro you gonna buy?

Punk Kid

Yeah Man definitely!

Everyone looks at each other rolling their eyes and smirking at his desperate attitude to please. Lucas and the punk kid walk up the street and fade away.

SANCHEZ

That kid is way too excited about 

being with us. I swore he was about 

to bust a nut when Lucas went with him

The groupies giggle and Carlos one of the band member sighs and shakes his head. Lacy looks away staring at where Lucas and the kid walked off to. 

Across the street there is a bank with a large parking lot and neatly trimmed hedges. Some of the girls and a band member are inside the bank where the ATM’s are, trying to keep themselves warm. A white van approaches the group and pulls up next to Lacy. 

Sanchez looks over to where the bank is and notices Case one of the band members crossing the street.

SANCHEZ

Yo Case help me put this stuff in 

Case pulls his phone from his pocket and Sanchez quickly snaps

SANCHEZ

Don’t call those hoes in the bank they can

take the damn train, there wont be much space 

in the van with them

Case obliges and grabs one of the equipment cases

Lacy looks at all the guys putting most of the equipment in the van. The driver is staring at Lacy she looks at him, he’s got clear blue eyes a large stomach that’s leaning on the wheel. He’s smoking a cigarette he winks at her and unlocks the door. 

Van Driver

Hey it’s cold outside get in

Lacy looks back at the guys, Sanchez is looking at her and nods. She opens the door and slides in.

SANCHEZ

Lacy here take my phone and call Lucas so he 

can help us with the rest of this stuff

Sanchez tosses his cell phone Lacy catches it and the van driver keeps his gaze on Sanchez through the rearview mirror puffing at his cigarette. 

CUT TO: EXT. Inside a grocery store

Lucas’ phone starts ringing the punk kid is getting into a fight with the middle eastern cashier he asks for his ID and the kid is obviously under age. Lucas walks outside ignoring the commotion and picks up.

LUCAS

      Yo

LACY

  Van’s here!

LUCAS

    Did you get a seat?

LACY

Yeah I’m sitting up in 

the front with the creepy driver

The Van driver grunts, Lacy shifts herself closer to the window almost afraid of touching the partitioner between them.

Lucas laughs. 

LUCAS

Okay I’ll be there in a minute

The punk kid runs outside with the bags of beer past Lucas and is laughing. The cashier is yelling and pulls Lucas

CASHIER

You must catch your friend! He needs pay!!

Lucas is shocked and he smiles he pulls the cashier’s grip off of his jacket and runs after the kid. They reach the van and all the equipment is in. The rest of the band members are trying to shuffle in when Lucas leaps in first sliding into the window seat. Everyone groans. They can hear yelling and see a distant figure running closer.

LUCAS 

    Get in!

The kid is still standing outside with the bags of beer in his hands laughing. Everyone starts pushing to get in. The driver starts the car, Case begins to call the girls still waiting in the bank. The girls start to run out of the bank towards the van. The van begins to pull out.

LUCAS, CASE & CARLOS yell out to the driver

No!! WAIT THERE’S MORE PEOPLE!

Van Driver

Hurry up & get them here I don’t have all night

Three girls run up to the van thats moved under the stop light they get in and climb on top of the guys lap. One of them sits and adjusts herself on Lucas’ lap. 

Lacy turns around and looks at Lucas noticing the groupie on his lap. Lucas notices her stare and looks away out the window. The light turns green and the driver begins to drive again.

CARLOS

No wait! there’s more

Van Driver

What? They don’t fit you’re lucky I waited

for these girls I’m sorry but I’m not stopping

Carlos leans back into his seat and snickers. Everyone laughs and start to take the beer the kid stole out of the plastic bag he brought them in. 

CUT TO: INT. A Large Basement. 

The pipes and beams are exposed. The band equipment is scattered all over. It’s the basement of an apartment building in Washington Heights. There are some cheap folding chairs out where everyone is sitting and drinking beer waiting for those who got left behind. Case, Sanchez and Lacy are sitting together. 

Sanchez gives a friendly look to Lacy. She sighs and looks at the groupies talking loudly and laughing.

LACY

They’re so stupid

CASE

(laughs)

Just drink you beer Lacy

Case pushes Lacy’s beer up towards her lips. Lacy takes a gulp of her beer and gets up to walk out of the room. Lucas notices her leave and walks out after her. She plots down in a corner and sits indian style staring at the floor. Lucas is now standing in front of her and extends his hands, she takes it and gets back up. She’s inches from his lips he leans in a little closer and stops. She straightens herself and tightens her eyes shut and she feels him dip in to kiss her, her eyes open wide at the feeling of glass hit her front teeth. Sanchez, Case, and Lucas are in the room and have stopped to stare at her.

CASE

What the hell are you doing? Making

out with that beer?

SANCHEZ

Damn it’s only your first beer Lacy are

you already drunk?

LUCAS

She seemed really into the bottle for a second there

He laughs

Lacy blushes and sinks herself back on the ground hoping they’d keep walking.  

Lucas opens a door and everyone that was left behind are there with more beer and bottles of liquor. They shout over to everyone else in the other room. Lacy drops her head back and finishes her beer. She wonders why she’s not home sleeping in her bed instead of this.

CUT TO: A Few Days Later

INT. NOON GARY’S APARTMENT, WEEKDAY.

Maria is laying on a bed. The sun is very bright and it’s going through the sheer white curtains and is shining on Maria’s face. She is dressed for an interview. She’s day dreaming her eyes are glued to the popcorn painting on the ceiling. Gary is Lucas’ cousin he’s sitting on a desk by the bed intensely checking his facebook. 

Lucas walks into the room he closes the door behind him and puts his hand on Maria’s leg.

LUCAS

So how did it go?

MARIA

(her eyes are still staring at the ceiling)

Horrible

Lucas climbs over her on the bed and put his lips on hers 

LUCAS

So what you’re saying is I have my very own fine ass

Mexican Professor free today?

Maria smiles she looks at him and pulls away from him

MARIA

Shut Up

Lucas leans towards her and kisses her. She hadn’t seen him in a few days and missed his affection. She let her guard down and folded her arms around him. Gary snaps out of the computer and notices the two kissing. He grunts.

GARY

I’m hungry

LUCAS

No you’re not

GARY

What are we doing today?

Maria moves away from Lucas annoyed and turns the TV on

LUCAS

Go take a shower

MARIA

You boys act like a bunch of girls

Lucas looks back at her he gives her a smirk and lays down on her lap.

LUCAS

You making fun of me woman?

GARY

I’m hungry

LUCAS

GO TAKE A SHOWER!

Maria sighs gets up and slaps Gary’s shoulder he looks at her and knows he should probably go take a shower. Maria sits at his desk and logs off his facebook and begins to download music.

GARY

Hey! Hey! What the fuck man?

Maria

I promise you haven’t missed any comments or important newsfeeds

Lucas laughs, Gary ignores him and walks out of the room with a towel. Maria turns the chair around to face Lucas on the bed cuddling a pillow and watching TV. She crosses her legs and folds her hands sitting up straight and ready for battle.

MARIA

Now tell me

(beat)

Why were you spending all your time with some

groupie the other night? 

Lucas closes his eyes he knows what kind of day this is going to be. He grips the pillow and turns towards her.

LUCAS

Who told you that?

MARIA

So you were with someone all night?

LUCAS

There was no someone all night you

need to get your information straightened out

MARIA 

I don’t want to hear your bullshit

don’t give people reasons to talk Lucas

Lucas drops his head he gets up and starts to walk towards Maria with a defeated posture he falls to her knees.

LUCAS

Yes, Yes-- I met someone we got drunk

I fucked her and we’re in love

Gary walks in with a towel wrapped around his waist he shakes his wet hair in Maria’s direction.

MARIA

you ass

Maria wasn’t falling for Lucas’s sarcasm or lack of wit she grabs her coat and starts heading towards the front door.

Gary looks at Lucas completely unaware of what he’s walked into. 

GARY

What’d I do?

Lucas shakes his head and brushes his hand through his hair. Lucas grabs his coat and starts to go after her. 

CUT TO: EXT. SUNNY WINDY DAY WASHINGTON HEIGHTS 

Lucas zips up his jacket and puts his hands in his pockets he looks down both sides of the street to figure out where Maria could’ve gone. He decides to head towards the subway. 

CUT TO: INT. CASE’S APARTMENT.

The living room is lit by florescent lighting where one light has burned out. There are a bunch of old large couches on each side of the wall. Maria, Case, Sanchez and Lacy are sitting in the living room drinking tea.

SANCHEZ

Damn

Sanchez looks down to his cup concentrated

Can you put liquor in this shit?

Case and Maria roll their eyes, Lacy isn’t paying attention. 

CASE

Yo that’s mad drunkie x core status

SANCHEZ

Nah chill I think you can only do that to coffee

anyways it’s not like I was gonna do it

MARIA

I asked him about it

CASE

Not cool man! You told me you wouldn’t say anything

SANCHEZ

Why you over reacting bee?

MARIA

Don’t tell me what to do

(beat)

I’m fed up with his triflin’ ass

Sanchez and Case look down at their cups of tea defeated by Maria’s stubbornness. Lacy is just observing.

Maria turns to Lacy

MARIA

I mean.... What would you have done?

Lacy is caught off guard by Maria’s question but she instantly responds.

LACY

Just leave

CUT TO: EXT. SUBWAY 161ST 

Lucas is looking around the train station. The station is starting to get full it’s almost rush hour people are lining up to buy their metrocards and get in.

LUCAS

Fuck this 

He slams his hands on the bar of the entrance. People look back at him and snicker. He pulls out his cell phone and begins to walk back up the stairs he is going down his phonebook list. You can tell he doesn’t know who to call yet.

CUT TO: INT. CASE’S APARTMENT 

Case is walking out of the bathroom down a narrow short hallway. His phone beeps he just received a text message as he opens it he walks into the living room where Sanchez is opening a bottle of vodka and pouring it in his tea. You can hear Maria and Lacy talking in the kitchen.

MARIA

It’s so frustrating because the people you

want to trust are lying to you! It doesn’t matter 

he always seems to win... I’m so tired of this

Lacy is surprised at Maria’s openness. She scans her up and down judging her and gaining a sense of satisfaction at her vulnerability. Maria is too wrapped up in her own conversation to notice any expressions or response Lacy has. 

LACY

Yeah

MARIA

I mean I don’t want to believe he cheats! I don’t..

I wish there was something that could make me believe.. 

but I also wish I can just see it that he does cheat to be

done with it all

LACY

Yeah- I don’t know how he can see you, see

straight at him and he not have any shame or guilt

about it. I wish he would just be true to himself

and allow someone to love him

Maria pauses and looks at Lacy intensely

MARIA

what exactly do you mean?

The tone of Maria’s voice scares Lacy a little. She smiles at her and shrugs. Lacy’s phone rings she goes back into the living room where Sanchez is arranging a party tonight at Case’s. Case is already drunk drinking vodka out of his tea cup. 

LACY

Hey

LUCAS

What are you doing?

LACY 

nothing 

LUCAS

Where are you?

(beat)

I miss your pretty eyes

Lacy smiles silently by now she’s walked into the narrow hallway behind the living room away from everyone else. She leans back into the wall. She can imagine his touch. She feels connected again by his voice.

LACY

I’m here at Case’s 

you should come over

LUCAS

yeah sure--

I’ll see if I can stop by

(pause)

Are you alone with him or something?

Lacy peaks back into the living room Maria is now at the table drinking vodka from her tea cup with Case. 

LACY

No I think Sanchez is planning a party

at Case’s tonight though

LUCAS

Okay 

I’ll see you later than babe

Her heart squirms. She ends the call and returns to the table with a different mood.

CUT TO: EXT. OUTSIDE GARY’S APARTMENT DOOR. HALLWAY

Lucas opens the front door and walks back into the bedroom where Gary is back on the computer towel still wrapped around his waist. 

GARY

So did you get her?

Lucas sits on the bed behind him and folds his arm over his eyes nodding his head no.

GARY

you do it to yourself man

LUCAS

Yeah-- I know

Lucas’s phone rings 

LUCAS

What’s up bro?

SANCHEZ

Hey dude what are you doing?

LUCAS

chillin’ man what’s up?

SANCHEZ

Yo there’s gonna be a party tonight at Case’s

Lucas laughes

LUCAS

yeah does he know about it yet?

Sanchez laughes

SANCHEZ

yeah he will when the people start showing up

ah but he wont care as soon as he sees the sweet

hoes show up too

ey yo speaking of girls man your shorty’s

here tippin’ back a few vodka drinks

LUCAS

oh word? 

SANCHEZ

yeah man

LUCAS

alright thanks for lookin’ out I’ll see you tonight

Lucas puts his coat back on and heads back out towards Case’s apartment. He calls Lacy again. 

LACY

hey are you here yet?

LUCAS

yeah but why don’t we take a walk

I need to talk to someone

LACY

yea sure-- I’ll be downstairs in a minute

She gets up puts her jacket on and starts heading out.

MARIA

where are you going?

LACY

I’ll be back

Maria is shouting towards her but Lacy is racing down the stairs excited and impatient to see him again 3 days in a row this week. She wasn’t expecting it but she always hopes to run into him as much as she can. She sprints down the last few steps and stops at the lobby where the walls are mirrors, she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and turns to open the door. She walks outside to find him looking around. He smiles at her and walks over to hug her. 

LUCAS

hey babe

LACY

(blushing)

hey

They walk down to a park a few blocks away. He is touching her waist, her hair, her neck flirting with her and pulling away. She grows more and more aggressive as he teases her so she slips her hand in his finally. He brings her under a bridge in a park and takes both her hands in his and brings her closer to him. She smiles and leans in further to kiss him. 

CUT TO: INT. CASE’S APARTMENT

There is about 15 people in the living room some familiar groupies others just random friends of friends. In the kitchen Maria is taking shots with a group of guys. They are flirting with her and she likes the attention. Sanchez walks in the room.

Sanchez puts his hand on Maria’s neck and leans close to her ear

SANCHEZ

Hey- What are you doing?

Maria takes a sip from her shot glass and without looking at Sanchez replies,

MARIA

drinking

SANCHEZ

I can see that so why don’t you do that

with the rest of us in the living room

Maria rolls her eyes and leans in to one of the guys. Very seductively she slips her hands next to his hip and grabs the tequila bottle. She grabs his face and leans closer.

MARIA

bye boys

The guys groan as she walks away following Sanchez into the living room where the familiar faces are. She moans in despair

MARIA 

ugh

SANCHEZ

what?

MARIA 

nothing

She pushes past Sanchez and puts on her charm and begins to mingle. 

CUT TO: EXT. THE SUN HAS SET. IN FRONT OF THE SUBWAY STATION.

Lucas is holding Lacy in front of the subway entrance whispering in her ear. She’s giggling. They kiss and she walks downstairs as he watches her go and then he starts to walk back to Case’s apartment.
